In the age of vibe-everything, what's going to replace the hackathon?

Introducing, the Vibe Olympics. The first Vibe Olympics took place October 2025 in the viral Frontier Tower basement. It combined hackathon skills with e-sports energy, putting competitors in front of a live audience with timed challenges and $10,000 in cash prizes.

The day started with a series of challenges. 90 hackers signed up to compete, and raced to build joke generators, video-game playing agents, and multi-player Snake.

I spent the first part of the day MCing with the Vibe Olympics Dashboard. Hackers were shown a new challenge every 20 minutes, with all of them due at the end of 2 hours. Amazing MC & referee hats by kelexi.
The top four vibe coders moved on to the live finals, where they coded in a cage and built challenges while the crowd watched on, testing their apps and games in real time

The energy was electric, culminating in a high-energy final round where two coders faced off, racing to be the first to build randomly chosen audience-submitted apps.
